Self-Managed Super

Self-Managed Superannuation

Self-managed superannuation is a means of saving for retirement for those wanting to control their investment strategy, reduce tax and control administration costs. It also facilitates the acquisition of assets that cannot be acquired in an industry or retail fund (eg: property)

There are ongoing administrative tasks that must be completed when running a self-managed superannuation fund (or SMSF) including preparation of financial statements, lodgement of an annual return with the ATO and reporting to members. There is also a requirement for a SMSF to be audited for compliance with superannuation law on an annual basis.

Superannuation law is a complex area and non-compliance can result in significant financial penalties.
